Pastoral Care - Ethos

Ethos

We are privileged that parents have chosen Oakfield for their children, and it is our responsibility to educate them in a secure and caring environment that will enable them to grow into confident and responsible young people.

Although we are a non-denominational school, we follow a broadly Christian ethos that teaches the children to show kindness to each other, to respect others’ beliefs and to care for the world around us. Twice weekly these messages are reinforced through an Assembly, and further by the role of School Guardian. This office is awarded each year to the Year 11 girl who most embodies these traditional values, and who can help to ensure that her fellow pupils adhere to them.

Children are taught the importance of good manners from their first day in Nursery, and are expected to show courtesy and consideration at all times to adults and to each other.

Most importantly, we feel that education should be stimulating and fun and we strive to create a happy learning environment from Nursery through to GCSE.
